Cereal Seed Drilling
The drilling of cereals, Oil Seed Rape, barley, grass etc., is done using one of the three drills operated by the team, from a new 6m John Deere 750a drill, which is highly effective in the establishment of Oil Seed Rape.
The drill is Isobus compatible allowing us to change our seed rates from the cab of the tractor, either before we go drilling, or during drilling, all drills are coupled to AutoTrac tractors ensuring constant row width and tramlines are at precise spacings, offering even applications of seed, spray and fertiliser throughout the growing season.
Precision maize drilling
We know that precision seed depth and spacing is critical to consistent cob formulation, that’s why we use a Monosem precision drill that can plant 10 rows at a time. This has proved to give consistent seed spacing in all soil conditions.
We are also able to apply micro fertilizer from the drill at the time of planting to help the crop get off to the best start.
Whenever we drill maize our tractors operate on GPS and AutoTrac to make sure that we can meet the precise row widths required. The tractors are equipped with narrow dual wheels all-round to reduce compaction, allowing for better root formation and to ensure no seeds are being run on at any time.
